In the late Yuan Dynasty, Liu Bowen, the military advisor of Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, came up with a strategy.
He hid notes with "Uprising on the night of August 15th" inside mooncakes and ordered his subordinates to deliver them to the rebel forces in various places.
As a result, they captured the Yuan capital and the uprising was successful. Since then, mooncakes have become the representative food of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
